Thailand Post (THP)
Thailand Post (THP) is a government-owned organization that offers postal services in Thailand. It used to be under the administration of the Communications Authority of Thailand until 2003 when the government decided to restructure the communications sector.
Thailand Post has a rich history dating back to 1883 when King Rama V established the Post and Telegraph Office. The first post office was in a prominent building near the Chao Phraya River, on the north side of the Ong Ang Canal. In 1898, the organization was renamed the "Department of Post and Telegraph" after merging with the Telegraph Department. However, in 1977, the department was dissolved, and the country's postal and telegraph services were transferred to a newly formed government-owned company called the Communications Authority of Thailand (CAT).
In 2003, the Thai government initiated a restructuring process that separated the communications department into two separate entities: Thailand Post and CAT Telecom. Thailand Post became an independent company responsible for postal services, while CAT Telecom took charge of other communication-related operations.
Thailand Post continues to provide essential postal services to individuals and businesses nationwide. With its extensive network of post offices and various service offerings, Thailand Post caters to the communication needs of the people of Thailand.
